At GT Care we offer person centred support along with social inclusion. We have a highly trained support team to support and empower a range of individuals with all activities of daily living.
Our staff are fully trained to support and care for individuals with learning difficulties, mental health, brain injuries and autism.
We offer a range of services including a number of supported and residential units across the Wakefield area and also offer day opportunities and community support.
We understand and value the importance of achievement and this is something we highly encourage for all our service users and ask our staff to embrace.
Life skill sessions are available either in groups or on a one-to-one basis. We help and encouraging individuals to be more independent whilst building on their current life skill knowledge and helping them to achieve their personal life goals no matter how big or small these may be.
Residential
GT Care has a 24 hour five bedded residential unit that specialises in Challenging Behaviour. The unit offers person centred support to individuals whilst encouraging independence where ever possible. Being responsive to the needs of the individual allows empowerment and involves them in making decisions to achieve their wishes and life goals; allowing the individual to live a full and meaningful life.
Personal Care
We provide an appropriate level of assistance through the CQC regulated activity of personal care. This consists of the provision of personal care for people who for what ever reason are unable to provide it for themselves, along with supporting those in old age, illness and/or disability. We consider it important to provide personal care to our service users in a place that they consider home at the time the care is provided. For example, personal care may be provided in our Residential Home and/or throughout our Community Based Support.
Personal Care activities may include;
- helping an individual prepare for bed
- assisting an individual to get up in the morning
- daily routines of personal health and hygiene such as, washing, bathing, dressing, preparation of meals
Personal care support is dynamic and ever-changing and care plans must be reviewed and updated in light of changing needs. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be worn by all staff when and where appropriate, correct and thorough
hand washing techniques are employed.
Whilst an individual is washing and dressing their dignity will be maintained. The individual will be encouraged and given appropriate support to maintain his/her independence where ever possible. Appropriate levels of assistance will be provided where there is any impairment such as, poor sight, loss of hearing and/or mobility ability.
Companionship
We will always be there as a hand to hold, and at all times listen to what the people who use our service tell us. We will constantly be there to help in any areas where it is needed. If a service user has any problems he/she will not be left to face them alone.
Escorting
We can supply support to take individuals to appointments both of a social and business nature, providing accompanying support whilst there. The type of transportation will be of the service user’s choice and in most cases a car will be made available (minimal charges may apply). Other trips can be arranged as part of a service user’s care package, whether for practical reasons such as shopping or for other activities in the community. We also have the use of a wheelchair vehicle for escorting people that need this facility.
